First Impressions are a lasting impression with home buyers. A small investment in time and money can give your home an edge over the competing homes in your neighbourhood and help your home sell faster for top market value.

EXTERIOR

Cut lawns*
Weed & edge gardens*
Trim hedges & shrubs*
Rake leaves as necessary in the Fall*
Walkways and and driveways clear of snow and ice in Winter*
Repair walkways and driveways as necessary. (If oil stains are apparent, try washing with laundry detergent powder, and rinse thoroughly to remove stains.)*
House numbers easy to read
Doorbell and door hardware in good repair
Touch up exerior paint, especially the front door.
Repair or replace broken or missing screens, window panes and hardware
Clean windows inside and out
Soffits, eavestroughs and downspout in good repair
Porch/entry clean and tidy
Garage
Remove broken tools, old car parts, discarded bicycles, empty paint cans.
INTERIOR
General
Vaccum and shampoo carpets
Repair/Polish and shine wood floor, if applicable
Replace worn carpets and flooring
Fix squeaky floors
Oil squeaky doors and tighten doornobs
Replace burned out light bulbs
Repair cracked plaster
Touch up/repaint as necessary
Keep halls and stairways clean and uncluttered
Tidy and un-clutter/organize closets
If possible, remove extra items, furniture and place in interim storage unit to enhance space.
Inspect windows and sills to ensure no debris or damage is present.
Litter boxes clean & fresh (if applicable)

Kitchen

Countertops - clear extra appliances and accessories

Cupboards - ensure they close properly - clean and organize throughout.

Sinks - Clean and shine

Clean major appliances

Remove magnets, papers displayed on the refrigerator

Empty garbage containers

Bathrooms

Clean and freshen

Clear countertops/vanities of items, pack and store extra items

Remove stains, mold from sink, tub, and shower if applicable

Grout and caulk and replace tiles as necessary

Repair leaking taps and toilets

Polish mirrors and taps

Display clean and matching towels

Empty waste containers

Basement
Organized and display a clutter-free environement.
Remove cobwebs
If basement is damp or musty, consider a dehumidifier.
Inspect your foundation for cracks, water seepage, efflorescence (white powder-like substance), crumbling mortar or concrete and rotting wood. Repair and seek professional advice if necessary if any of the latter is present.
