Located
along the Niagara Escarpment, the city of Burlington
is recognized for its commitment to maintaining its unique
natural heritage, community values and vibrant urban
and rural lifestyles. The close proximity to the Niagara
Escarpment provides a beautiful spot if you enjoy hiking
and outdoor activities.
Burlington’s downtown is an area
that is rich in history and offers a vibrant mix of residential
neighbourhoods, shops, restaurants and services with
a beautiful waterfront setting.
The downtown waterfront area is undergoing
major revitalization. There is a new downtown waterfront
park with a mix of open space, a discovery centre and
activity areas for the summer and winter including a
pond for remote controlled boats in the summer and skating
in the winter. There is a new restaurant right on the
waterfront.
A new pier is also being developed that
is expected to open to the public in 2008. The opening
of a new performing arts centre is planned for 2009.
Burlington is home of Canada's largest RibFest with more
than 130,000 attending, and a Jazz and Blues festival.
Burlington is a very popular, active, and
growing community. All of this make it a great place
to call home!
